Village Families,
In May, we kicked off
our participation in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge to encourage students to read all summer
long. Students who read in the summer tend to sustain their reading level
in the beginning of the next school year, setting them up for success in the
fall.
Besides the benefits of reading throughout the summer months, Village is currently in 14th place World Wide, (and 1st in New York), for the Scholastic Reading Challenge. Please help our school finish first by logging your minutes on the Scholastic website, or scanning the QR code on the attached (see below) activity calendar! On the calendar you will find some “end of summer” reading activities as well as fantastic events put on by the Hilton-Parma Public Library. As an added bonus, if your child completes 20 or more days of activities or has read at least 30 minutes a day, they will receive a special prize during the first week of school!
