Invitation to Families to Be Part of our Globally-Minded Team

Dear Village Families,

Village Elementary School students begin participating in the district's International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) in fifth grade and continue this experience until the end of tenth grade.  Although our K-4 students do not directly take part in the experiences that the Middle Years Programme has to offer, we do work to ensure our K-4 students understand key aspects of IB including the Approaches to Learning and the Learner Profile.  In doing so, we seek to develop our students as future citizens of the world that will be globally-minded.  This includes cultivating knowledge and skills that will prepare them for a rapidly changing future including strengthening their understanding of diversity in all forms.

With this in mind, I would like to invite interested families to join with me as well as other Village Elementary staff with the goal of strengthening our school as a globally-minded community of learners.  Our first meeting will be held toward the end of March based on the availability of those that express interest in being part of this team.  I will work with those interested to identify the best date/time to meet with the goal of having at least two meetings during the 2017-2018 school year.  In future years, this team will meet quarterly.

If you are interested in being part of Village Elementary School's Globally-Minded Team, please complete the following Google Form:

Updates regarding our work will be communicated using this blog in addition to work we will do with our students and staff.  Thank you for considering being part of this team!

Sincerely,

Dr. Rudd
