The Hilton Central School District has begun evaluating, planning, and implementing resources to expedite the return of students to full-time in-person learning. In the Transportation Department, we are developing a routing system that will accommodate students with the proposed social distancing recommendations, should we get approval from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOT) and Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).
One of our most daunting tasks is getting child care information and joint custody paperwork in place to ensure students are delivered to the approved bus stop. We also need to know if parents will be transporting their children and if students are driving themselves. This information is crucial in creating routes with the appropriate number of students.
Please note the following regulations:
Same-day route changes and riding to friends’ homes for playdates, homework, etc. are not allowed.
Transportation to the current home location and only one daycare location is allowed.
Child care/joint custody requests must be for all five days a week AM and all five days a week PM. This allows us to monitor and manage bus capacity to meet social distancing requirements. Most importantly, this allows us to safely transport and deliver students to the right address.
Please respond to our Transportation Survey by logging into your Infinite Campus Parent Portal and choosing “School Store.” The deadline to respond is March 28 at 5 p.m. We cannot physically route buses or allocate resources without this information. Should you have any questions or concerns, please call 392-1007. Once you complete the survey, your child’s transportation record will be updated and any changes will only be approved if bus space permits.
In addition, all child-care and joint-custody changes must be submitted using the forms below. Please allow 3-5 business days to complete the change request. Call 392-1007 with any questions.
As a reminder, all child care forms and joint custody forms must be submitted by July 1 for the 2021-22 school year.
