February PBIS Updates

February PBIS Updates

February 1st marks the start of  Black History Month, a time when we highlight the rich contributions made to our world by brilliant and talented people of color. Our PBIS Team has worked to combine our IB trait of “Communicators” as well as Black History Month together to provide educational and engaging activities for our VE students.

Beginning Monday, February 1st, Village will focus on one historic person each week. Our first week, February 1-5, will focus on Jackie Robinson, the first African American to play Major League Baseball. There will be daily informative announcements as well as activities designed for specific grade levels to use with students.  Each week on Thursday, we will share the details of the following week’s activities and focus. Talk to your child about all they have learned!

February 8-12th - Ruby Bridges

February 15-19th - February Break ( No school )

February 22-26th - Bessie Coleman

These important people from history along with many others are featured on a display in our main hallway. Additionally, our students in grades K-4 participate in video lessons provided by our school counselors each week. February's videos will focus on Black History Month and equity.

Finally, Village Elementary has its own Twitter page now where we look forward to showcasing our students’ great achievements and work! We invite you to follow our Twitter feed to stay up to date on all things Village! @1VillageHilton
