The Families of Color (FoC) group is meeting on March 7th,
April 4th, May 2nd, and June 6th from
6:30-7:30 in the at Hilton Central School District's Staff Development Room at 225 West Avenue. The group’s mission is to bring together a
strong collective of parents, concerned family members, and allies passionate
about building a racially and economically just community for children in the
Hilton Central School District. This space is one for meeting regularly to
share insights and address issues we have encountered in our children’s
schools, providing social support, and establishing meaningful connections with
one another. In order to ensure this space is welcoming to all families of
color in HCSD schools (including folks with disabilities, immigrants, LGBTQ
people, people of different religious backgrounds, etc), we leave racism,
ableism, homophobia, transphobia, and other “isms” at the door. By coming
together, we form a team of support that allows us to lean on and learn from
each other, as well as advocate for the changes we want to see in our local
schools and community.
