RE: Selection of
band instruments for 2016-2017
Hello and Welcome
to our band program here at Village Elementary School!
Students will
attend an Instrument Petting Zoo at Village the Week of May 23rd.
After testing out
and listening to the instruments, they will select three in order of preference.
A form will go home with them the day of the petting zoo. I will direct them to a certain instrument if
I feel it is in their best interest or there are certain physical
characteristics that would help or prohibit. If you would like, use the website
Be Part of the Band. Com to see and hear all the instruments. The only
instrument we are not starting is
the Bassoon.
Once this process
is complete, I will go through the applications and start assigning instruments
to all of our students. I will contact you as soon as possible with that
information. All instruments must be rented or purchased through a local music
store with the exception of Tuba, Baritone and French Horn. Those instruments
may be rented from our school district for a yearly fee.
Once students
receive that information, many beginners start lessons over the summer with
local private instructors to get a jump start. I will share that information as
well.
