Ms. Schaufelberger's May Newsletter

Dear Families,

I hope you had a safe and wonderful spring break.  As we enter the last two months of the school year, I cannot help but think of the exciting events Village has planned.  For our sixth graders, Darien Lake and the Fun Night are around the corner.  The sixth grade team has been keeping a points system to keep students accountable for their positive behavior.  Students that have a certain percentage earn the positive incentives planned for the remainder of the school year.  If there have been any concerns, the sixth grade homeroom teacher have let the student know.  We are hopeful students will earn these fun events planned.

This month’s IB trait is Balanced.  We understand the importance of balancing different aspects of our lives—intellectual, physical, and emotional—to achieve well-being for ourselves and others. We recognize our interdependence with other people and with the world in which we live. This coincides with the need for students to depend on one another to achieve great harmonies in our upcoming chorus and band concerts.  We hope to see you at the concerts held on May 10th (chorus) and May 11th (band).

April’s bus of the month was awarded to bus #78 .  This bus has improved on their efforts to be safe on the bus and I am excited to acknowledge that with the red carpet.

One of the biggest school events is the Spirit Day.  It is an all day, school-wide event that involves all staff.  On June 16th, we will have a DJ (thank you Mr. Lewis), three bounce houses, a dunk tank and arts rotations.  Students may earn passport tickets to enter a raffle to participate in throwing a ball at the dunk tank target.  Staff, including myself will be braving the dunk tank throughout the day.  With so many events, comes supervisory needs.  We are asking parents to volunteer any time they can to supervising a rotation or assisting the staff.  If you are able and interested in volunteering, please contact me via email or phone.  I can be reached at 392-1000 *5198.  The staff thanks you in advance for your time.

Have a great week!
