PBIS February Newsletter

Dear Parents,
It is an exciting month!  We have fun events that I am looking forward to experiencing with the Village and Hilton communities.

February's IB profile trait is communicator.  Students exemplify being a communicator by expressing themselves confidently and creatively in more than one language and in many ways.  We collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups.  In honor of different ways to communicate, the PBIS assembly will be presented virtually.  Students will participate in a livestream of Mr. D’Abreu and myself from their classrooms.  Be sure to ask your child about it on Friday and encourage your child to wear red in spirit of the day.
Communication is a great IB focus because this month the district participates in Cadet Day.  Students from the high school and middle school will visit all elementary schools to connect with younger students.    This is a great way to bring all schools together and establish positive relationships between all students.
Thank you to all the families who participated in the “Disconnect to Connect Home Challenge.”  Students were challenged to not watch TV or play electronics in order to get up and moving instead.  Mrs. Hart’s class won the participation award, which included free passes to SkyZone. A big shout out to Mrs. Bevan’s class who participated and received an ice cream party.   This month we are kicking off One Healthy Village with the second annual Superwalk.  Each time a class takes a lap around the school, they add a football to a bar graph.  The winning grade level will be recognized Tuesday, February 7th.
Congratulations to bus #16 for earning the January bus of the month title.   This bus has had a lot to work on since the beginning of the school year, but the students worked hard to be safe on the bus, and I am excited to celebrate them with the red carpet treatment.
Have a great month!
