Dear Village
Families,
Fall is
here! We hope you are adjusting to the
weather by staying healthy and enjoying the Fall activities such as the Apple
Fest. Thank you to our students, staff, and families that were involved in the Homecoming Parade including all the classrooms that contributed to the float. You represented our school community well. Additionally, thank you to all of our students for demonstrating their Cadet Pride by participating in Spirit Week!
Two weeks
ago, we began recognizing students who are exemplifying International Baccalaureate Learner Profile characteristics. The recognition is
called the "Committed Cadet Award" and each week staff has the
opportunity to nominate students who go above and beyond the student
expectations. We announce the recipients
each Friday morning and deliver the certificates to go home with students. We hope you will see one of the certificates
for your child this year.
For the
month of October we will be focusing on the Principled IB trait. The definition of Principled reads: We act with integrity and honesty, with a
strong sense of fairness and justice, and with respect for the dignity and
rights of people everywhere. We take responsibility for our actions and their
consequences. This is timely for October as we prepare for Make a Difference Day which will take
place on Saturday, October 22. In conjunction with this community event, we invite Village
Elementary families to participate in this year's Harvest Food Drive.
We are excited about our upcoming "Night at The Village" that will be held on October 27th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. We will
kick off this year's One School, One Book experience and hand out the book to all families in attendance. As in years past, the book is a surprise, and we will have many great activities for all to enjoy. We hope you can join us! If you would like to learn more about the One School, One Book program, please watch this video.
Have a wonderful
and safe month!
